Okay so this first picture was not taken during "Senior Week" but this was the last soccer game that Darby played in where the Senior boys and girls played against the rest of the boys and girls on Varsity. After the game, each senior was honored.
The last week of school was full of celebrations. However, it was also mixed in with packing
as we were preparing to move back to the U.S. In the photo below, Darby is donating her "Mr. Bear" to the elementary school library. According to Lori Horton (pictured with Darby) the bear has been a huge success among the kids!
The photo below is one taken at the Sports banquet. This is a night where all the Varsity teams are recognized and some individual awards and given out. Darby and Melynn both loved the time they spent with the soccer team.
There are really 3 main events tied to Senior Week. The first is the Baccalaureate that is held on the Sunday before graduation. This like a religious send off to the seniors.
On Monday night, I was invited to Darby's last Bible study group with Ms. Grad. This was a small group of girls that have been getting together with one of their beloved teachers for the past several months. On this particular night we prayed over each girl and then lit these
lanterns and sent them off into the night sky.
Wednesday night was Senior Tea. This was a long evening but probably my most favorite. Each senior was recognized by one of the teachers or staff. Each prepared speech was about 2 minutes long. Mrs. Allen recognized Darby and said some very nice things about her. We have it recorded :)
Friday night was the final event. Graduation!
After graduation all the kids (and some parents/staff too) go back to the school to the Cafeteria area and say all their goodbyes and sign yearbooks. For this night it is called "The Wailing Wall". The seniors may also give out extra pictures of themselves to their friends. Then from 10pm-midnight all the seniors have a party inside the school chapel.
It has been a great year!
