Seminary Graduation

Seminary Graduation was held at the Stockholm Stake Center. Certificates were not only handed out to the youth but also the young adults that attend institute classes.

Ashtyn's friends Brittany and Jesper were also in attendance to support Ashtyn.
Congratulations Sweetie!!!

Melynn is an official teenager!

Melynn had a very low key birthday celebration at our home the night before her birthday. The following morning she was headed out to Grinda, an island in the Archepelago of Sweden, to camp with her fellow 7th graders. Now I have three teenagers in the house!!! Someone please help me!!!

Ashtyn's best buddy Brittany was visiting us for a few weeks from California
so she could celebrate with us!

Ashtyn's graduation and video of life!

Stockholm International School held their graduation ceremony on June 5th, 2013 in Stockholm. Ceremony consisted of 33 graduating seniors.

In honor of Ashtyn's wonderful achievement I wanted to surprise her
with a video I put together of her life (thus far).

We are so proud of you Ashtyn!

Utspring!

A traditional event in Sweden that is held every year for those graduating from High School (though they would call it "Gymnasium") is Utspring! This is a day when the soon to be graduates run out of the school (typically with girls dressed in white or cream, boys in suits) while the parents are outside waiting with big posters of baby photos and little things to wear around their necks like stuffed animals, flowers and whistles. Then the kids, after taking pictures with their families, get on a big truck and drive around the city with loud music playing and cheering on excitedly. What a fun day for the kids. The hats in the photos are their graduation hats!

Stockholm Marathon weekend!!!

Aaron had been working really hard to prepare for the Stockholm Marathon that was held on June 1st this year. This was the first time that he had to train by himself. He decided that training alone is no fun!
The good news is that our good friends Jeff, Julie and Emily were coming to visit us so that Jeff could run the race with Aaron. We were so excited to finally have some visitors from home. We absolutely loved their visit and so glad that they could make such a long trip to visit us!!!

Senior trip to Budapest, Hungary

Ashtyn and her classmates had the opportunity to travel to Budapest for their
Senior excursion at the end of May. They were there for 3 days.
The trip was made after all the exams were finished so it really felt like a true vacation!

Melynn in Norway and New York City!

Melynn has had some adventures on her own recently. The first part of May she traveled with a bunch of other SIS students to Oslo, Norway for a Nordic Network competition. This is an athletic event that involved 2 other international schools, Gothenburg and Oslo. They played several sports...Basketball, Soccer, Cross Country and Floor ball. Melynn participated in Basketball and also Soccer which they took 1st place in. GO TEAM!

However, Melynn did inform me (perhaps with a little pride) that the basketball ref had to stop the game in the middle of it to give Melynn's team a warning that they were being too aggressive!

Here is just a couple of Melynn with her crazy crew :)

A couple of weeks later Melynn went on a trip with 15 other students to New York City. She was going there to attend a Model United Nations conference for a week. They were able to see several sites of the city and shop!

For the conference, Melynn was in the World Health Organization representing Denmark.

After the trip the MUN kids talked to the parents about their experiences on the trip.
Here is a photo of Melynn giving her presentation.

She had a blast and wants to be involved again next year.
