About 6 months ago, Melynn decided that she wanted to run a half marathon. She had one
picked out and asked if Aaron and I would run it with her. How could we say no?
I wasn't terribly excited to run that distance but I did want to support Melynn in this
goal of hers. So we all signed up (including Jaxon) and started to train over the summer.
Jaxon was so busy with band on the weekends and having a minor leg injury, that he
wasn't able to train properly so he backed out. However, training went well for the
rest of us and we felt great on the run.
On Friday we spent the day at Magic Kingdom.
Florida has been going through a major cold spell and this weekend was no different.
I think this morning it was about 40 degrees.
Here we are all bundled up and waiting in line for SPLASH MOUNTAIN! Yes, we are crazy!
But the line was short so we decided to do it anyway :)
Saturday morning we were up by 4:15am.
We left the hotel by 4:45 to catch the shuttle from the hotel.
We all learned that this is a race where you do not worry about your time. There was
25,000 runners and it took us an entire hour just to get to the start line from our corral.
We weaved in and out of people the entire race. I wished I had packed my Garmin
(I totally forgot) because I think it would have read that I actually ran
at least 15+ miles just from all the weaving.
Feels so good to have showered!
We were off to Animal Kingdom on Saturday.
It is a park with a mix of rides and a zoo. The kids loved this park.
We went on the Safari ride and were impressed by all the animals they keep in the park.
It really was a great weekend and we were happy and exhausted when we left.
