Always on the move...: 2022

There seemed to be one hurdle after another as Aaron and I tried to make our way to Utah to meet our newest grandson Lucas. In the end Melynn decided that she needed a vacation anyway and proposed that she, Darby and Lucas could come and see us. It was so nice to have them home!

I had to drive down to Orlando to pick up the girls/baby up so when we arrived home Aaron was waiting in the garage with the door open. He couldn't wait!! This is the first time he is holding Lucas.

Even though I was with the girls/baby for the last few hours, I was in the driver seat. So I didn't get to hold Lucas till after Aaron had his turn :)

Lucas had a baby rash on his face (typical of a month old baby) so we let him out in the sun for a few minutes to see if that would help. Then back in the shade he went.

I can't get enough of his cute little face!!!

The girls were excited to get some sun time while visiting. A neighboring beach goer complimented Darby for bringing such a young baby to the beach. She said that it was good that kids get used to different places because it makes them more adaptable.

We went to the beach again the very next day so Aaron could join us.

Lucas slept the entire 2 hours that we were there and stayed in the shade like this. I think the sound of the waves was soothing to him.

Umm we had to go to Crumbl cookie while the girls were in town...

Even though they have a million of these in Utah!

On Sunday morning we all left the house early because Aaron had to speak in church in St. Augustine. The girls had to fly out of Orlando that day so after church we drove down to Palm Coast to have brunch with Aunt Joan before heading to the airport. I was sad to see them leave but happy that Darby and Lucas are coming back to visit in a few weeks.

A&W visit/ Legoland

Charles had a few days off of school so they had planned a trip to get out of the cold winter in Omaha. We were happy that the weather was great in Florida during their visit to see us.

We picked them up from the Orlando airport and then we all stayed in a hotel that night so that we could go to Legoland the next day. Charles and Marion love playing with their legos and they knew the characters from the movies. They seemed excited to be there!

My favorite part of Legoland was this area that was filled replicas of well known places built out of legos. The photo above is the Daytona Speedway.

Kids decorated sugar cookies. I had plans to make the cookies from scratch and then have the kids create their own shapes with cutters....but then I got lazy and Ashtyn and I decided to just buy already made ones from Walmart ;) It actually turned out great and I will do that again for sure! Simple and fun.

Their was a Friend to Friend broadcast from the church so the kids watched it and colored along when prompted to. I love that the church is now offering these kinds of broadcasts for kids.

On Sunday Aaron and I were speaking at the ward in Palatka so we all attended services there in the morning. That afternoon Aunt Joan came over to have Sunday dinner with us. Here we are teaching Aunt Joan how to play Kids of Carcassonne. It is a fun and simple game and the kids love to play it.

It is always nice when Joan comes over. She is so spunky!

Ashtyn and family were leaving early Tuesday morning from Orlando so we had booked them a hotel nearby for Monday night. On our drive down we stopped at this cool park in Daytona Beach and stayed for a couple of hours. Afterward we ventured to Bass Pro Shop and then on to Orlando.

The day after they got home was Anders First Birthday! They are all getting so big! We love our grandkids and look forward to flying out to Utah soon to meet our new grandson Lucas who is the first member of the cousin club!

Darby's Baby Shower weekend

Aaron and I flew to Salt Lake to spend a few days in Utah because I was hosting a baby shower for Darby. Terry Marchbanks, who is a friend of Darby's from her mission, offered her home to us for the shower. Terry was a senior sister and Darby really adored her while serving in Kirtland. Ashtyn flew in with Anders so that made it extra special for all of us.
