Baby Shower

We had a surprise baby shower at my house a couple of weeks ago for my friend Lilla. She is expecting the end of December. It turned out to be a great evening!

I would say that typically Swedes do not have baby showers. However, in my church it has crossed over from the American friends and relatives and so is not unusual if you are LDS. One baby shower tradition that (I believe) has begun here is that when the expectant mother opens your gift you then have to share a wish that you have for the baby.

Another tradition is that the ribbon that surrounds the gift has to be tied into the mothers hair. Usually the hair tying is done by one of the guests. My daughter Darby and her friend Christina did the honors this time!

Here is Lilla (and friend Emmally) with her hair all tied up afterwards. However, she is still so beautiful!
